The Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR) team is at the forefront of Cyber Security and Information Technology within Defence and is responsible for enabling Defence through the provision of specialist assurance and cyber security services across UK Defence, including industry partners, other Government Departments and our international allies.
CyDR sits within the Defence Digital team who provide digital and technology services to our Armed Forces. Defence Digital operates at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, it aims to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world.

Job description
The Joint Information Assurance Coordinator position sits within the Joint Information Assurance Coordination Cell (JIACC), in the Cyber Investigations team, a small, highly specialised team, part of the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) directorate. We identify and assess cyber vulnerabilities and their associated risks across Defence’s complex and challenging environments and identify possible gaps and issues to inform key defence programmes, who then undertake mitigation activities to help to reduce risks.
The Joint Information Assurance Coordinator role will be responsible for assessing tasking requests and prioritising and allocating to the IA Technical Security Teams (TST).
This position will act as a conduit to the front door of Cyber Investigations, providing a consistent point of contact between customers and the IA units and the wider Cyber Investigations team. The primary responsibility will be the day-to-day task management, assessing suitability and availability of resources and ensuring the STREAM database is up to date with the relevant reports.
The role will also support tracking the resolution of vulnerabilities found on MOD’s Communication and Information Systems (CIS), discovered during TST tests, together with the tracking of other IA functions, including Pen Testing, Vulnerability Assessment, Compliance Checks, Cyber Vulnerability Investigations (CVI’s) and more.

Responsibilities are likely to include but not restricted to:
- Coordination of core IA tasks by managing the effective planning and control of all tests.
- Initiate technical inspection of task requests, including pre-task technical information.
- Recommendation of acceptance or rejection of tasking, based on suitability and/or availability of resources, for onward transmission.
- Provide support to the single point of contact between the IA Units, Permanent Joint Headquarters and CyDR.
- Ensure all databases are correctly maintained and always updated to ensure accuracy.
- Upload reports and products onto SharePoint and STREAM, including setting permissions for each document.
- Record and monitor progress of outstanding issues on action plans and liaise with sites to ensure timely return of action plans.
- Represent the Information Assurance Co-Ordinators at relevant team meetings.
- Provide statistical information from the database for management meetings and information to other departments
- Ensure the TST Service Matrix is up to date.
- Dissemination of task summaries to support tracking, resolution and the overarching cyber risk landscape.
- Maintain history logs and update SharePoint with current emails and progress.
- Undertake training requirements in accordance with Category Training Matrix.
- Help the wider Cyber Investigation team with basic administration such as but not limited to, booking visitors onto site, arrange and set up meetings, and processing data.

We would expect to see some previous experience working in data input and analysis and/or information management and ideally you’ll have the following skills:
- Adept at building strong working relationships, with proven experience in demonstrating first class interpersonal skills within a professional environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including oral presentation and clear and accurate written briefing to senior leaders, often under time pressure.
- Stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work across boundaries to deal with varying stakeholder interests.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability in prioritising work, allocating resources effectively.
- Ability to work independently using own initiative.
- Computer literate and experience of using MS Office apps such as Excel, Word, Access.
- Eagerness to learn and continue your professional development.
Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station, which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Our expectation is that the successful candidate will be required to be in the office 2-3 days a week, due to access requirements to certain IT systems which are inaccessible remotely.
