Ward Receptionist - Elizabeth Ward [United Kingdom]


 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Elizabeth Ward at St David's Hospital as a Ward Receptionist.

The ward receptionist role is key to maintaining the smooth running of the ward. To be responsible for coordinating all administrative tasks and telephone duties within the ward area as delegated by the Nurse in Charge. To undertake the reception of patients, their relatives and visitors onto the ward in line with ward policy. To be aware of the need for confidentiality at all area times. Knowledge acquired through in-house training.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Answering the telephone and ensuring that we are directing the relatives to the appropriate health care professional in order to deal with queries.

Assisting with computer systems eg admitting patients, transferring patients and discharging patients, allocating consultants and assisting to keep the patient date of discharge up to date, so that the work station is always current.

Organisation of patients notes and filing and ensuring patient boards are up to date.

Ensuring stock levels for the office and the ward are at an appropriate level.

Assisting with the patient journey and also the discharge process eg liaising with nursing staff, doctors and other members of the multi disciplinary team, booking transport, arranging appointments, liaising with other departments as appropriate.
